32 world-class riders hit the track on Friday 25 October as the FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) revved into life for the first time in 2024.

Hosted by BC Place in Vancouver, the WSX Canadian Grand Prix saw its first laps underway as the riders got to grips with a new and challenging layout for the season opener.

WSX 450 Practice Results

As the premier class roared into life at BC Place it was Supercross legend and WSX ‘rookie’ Eli Tomac who was quickest out of the blocks setting a fastest time of a 54.32 after just eight laps, recording far fewer tours than any of the other front runners.

Then came the usual suspects, with two-time WSX runner-up Joey Savatgy six-tenths behind Tomac, and reigning two-time WSX Champion Ken Roczen a further four-tenths back in third. Rick Ware Racing’s Mitchell Oldenburg kicked off his first full-time WSX 450 season in style with fourth place while Dean Wilson on his Fire Power Honda took fifth after notching the most laps of anyone (15).

SX2 250 Practice Results

In SX2, Canadian GP Wildcard and 2023 Champion Max Anstie picked up where he left off with 2022 Champion Shane McElrath with the pair separated by under two-tenths.

Meanwhile, WSX newcomer Coty Schock impressed to take third, ensuring that the top three were separated by under three-tenths. Cole Thompson aboard his Fire Power Honda went fourth and the returning Enzo Lopes was fifth.
