Meet the 2024 WSX grid for the upcoming FIM World Supercross Championship season
Since late 2022, the FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) has entertained audiences globally, and later this year, will set out on its third season of competition with 14 ultra-fast riders ready to do battle in 2024.
From the season-opener in Vancouver to our finale in Abu Dhabi – with a historic double-header in Perth, Australia, in between – seven teams will be vying for World Championship glory.
But with only 14 full-time seats up for grabs in the series’ premier WSX 450cc class, it’s a tight competition, reserved for the very best in the business. And we’re stoked to get the season started.
It’s time to meet your 2024 WSX riders!
Ken Roczen
- Team: Pipes Motorsports Group
- Hometown: Mattstedt, Germany
- Debut: 2022 WSX British GP
- Best WSX Result: 1st x6
- 2023 Standing: 1st
Ken Roczen is the King of WSX, and after taking back-to-back World Championship titles in 2022 and 2023, returns to the series for 2024. With six GP race wins, 11 top three finishes, and two overall victories since joining WSX, Ken has become the star of the show, but despite recently recovering from an injury sustained earlier this year, his target for 2024 is clear: he’s hunting down his third title in as many seasons.
Joey Savatgy
- Team: Fire Power Honda
- Hometown: Thomasville, Georgia, USA
- Debut: 2022 WSX British GP
- Best WSX Finish: 1st x3
- 2023 Standing: 2nd
Joey Savatgy has proven himself as the only rider who can take the fight to Ken Roczen over the past two seasons. But after finishing as the runner-up on each occasion, he wants to go one better to win it all in 2024. Riding in new colours by joining reigning Teams’ Champions, Fire Power Honda, Savatgy is in a prime position to challenge for the top spot when racing gets underway in Vancouver.
Dean Wilson

- Hometown: Glasgow, Scotland
- Debut: 2022 WSX British GP

- 2023 Standing: 3rd
A fierce competitor and great showman, Dean Wilson is a fan favourite in WSX and is back for more in 2024. Since ending last season with second overall in Melbourne, Wilson has been in the form of his life, winning the Australian Supercross Championship title in 2023 before becoming the Brazilian Arenacross vice champion earlier this year. Linking up with Fire Power Honda for a third season, Wilson could be a dark horse for the title in 2024.
Vince Friese
- Team: MotoConcepts Racing
- Hometown: Cape Girardeau, Missouri, USA
- Debut: 2022 WSX British GP
- Best WSX Finish: 2nd x3
- 2023 Standing: 4th
With Vince Friese, you know what you’re doing to get. He’s one of the toughest riders out there, but with hard work, dedication, and unquestionable commitment and determination, he’s become one of the best racers in WSX. Friese will do whatever it takes to win, and after coming close on countless occasions, he’ll be searching for his maiden WSX win in 2024. If he can build upon his immense consistency, there’s no reason why he can’t be a championship challenger this year.
Greg Aranda
- Team: Team GSM
- Hometown: Beauvoisin, France
- Debut: 2023 WSX British GP
- Best WSX Finish: 2nd x1
- 2023 Standing: 6th
France’s Greg Aranda impressed everybody in his debut WSX season last year and propelled himself to sixth in the standings by showing consistency at every stage. Alongside finishing second in GP Race 2 in Melbourne, Aranda finished inside the top 10 in every single race – a very rare achievement in such an unpredictable series. The three-time German Supercross champion will be looking to build on his debut season in 2024, while leading Team GSM to new heights as the French squad eyes a maiden WSX victory.
Cedric Soubeyras

- Hometown: Entraigues Sur, France
- Debut: 2022 WSX British GP
- Best WSX Finish: 2nd x1
- 2023 Standing: 7th
Cedric Soubeyras is Mr Consistent. He finished eighth in 2022, eighth in 2023, and will be looking to reach the next level in his third season with Bud Racing in 2024. A proven Supercross racer who claimed the highly coveted King of Dortmund honour earlier this year, Soubeyras is in the perfect position to battle against the world’s best once again this season.
Mitch Oldenburg

- Hometown: Alvord, Texas, USA
- Debut: 2022 WSX British GP [SX2]
- Best WSX Finish: 2nd x1
- 2023 Standing: 9th
Mitch Oldenburg was perhaps the biggest revelation of 2023. After starting the season in SX2, he stepped up to the series’ premier 450cc WSX class for the final two rounds and impressed everyone from the off. By finishing second overall behind Ken Roczen in Melbourne, Oldenburg launched himself to ninth in points despite running part-time. By joining Rick Ware Racing, he will race WSX full-time in 2024 to answer one of our burning questions: just what can the Texan achieve over a complete campaign?
Colt Nichols
- Team: Pipes Motorsports Group
- Hometown: Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA
- Debut: 2023 WSX British GP
- Best WSX Finish: 1st x1
- 2023 Standing: 10th
Colt Nichols ended last season in style by winning GP Race 3 in Melbourne and has been chosen as the rider to partner Ken Roczen at Pipes Motorsports Group in 2024. There’s no questioning his talent – Nichols is one of the fastest guys out there, and after a frustrating 2023, he desperately wants to show everyone exactly what he’s capable of this season. If Nichols can find the consistency he was searching for last year, and pair that with his speed from Melbourne, his success could be endless.
Matt Moss
- Team: CDR Yamaha
- Hometown: Sydney, Australia
- Debut: 2022 WSX British GP [SX2]
- Best WSX Finish: 10th x1
- 2023 Standing: 19th
Matt Moss has the makings of a World Champion, and by joining CDR Yamaha, will be in a prime position to run at the front in WSX this season. After having his 2023 cut short because of injury, Moss will be looking to make up for lost time. The nine-time Australian National Motocross champion is tough, fast and is sure to make an impact in his first proper shot at WSX later this year.
Luke Clout
- Team: Rick Ware Racing
- Hometown: Sydney, Australia
- Debut: 2022 WSX British GP
- Best WSX Finish: 20th x1
- 2023 Standing: 3rd [SX2]
After finishing third in a breakout season in SX2 last year, Luke Clout will return to the premier WSX 450cc class in 2024. As one of Australia’s hottest talents, Clout will be partnering Mitch Oldenburg at Rick Ware Racing and remains a relative unknown. But given his rapid pace in 2023 and promise in ProMX earlier in 2024, there’s no saying what the New South Welshman can achieve.
Anthony Bourdon
- Team: Bud Racing
- Hometown: Agen, France
- Debut: 2022 WSX British GP
- Best WSX Finish: 5th x1
- 2023 Standing: 8th [SX2]
Anthony Bourdon is back the premier WSX 450cc class for 2024 after switching to SX2 last year and will continue with Bud Racing for a second season. The Frenchman has been competitive in everything he’s raced in, and with a best finish of fifth in GP Race 2 at the 2022 WSX Australian GP, has shown that on his day, he can be up there with the very best. Alongside Soubeyras, he completes a promising and proven lineup for Stephane Dassé’s squad.
Eli Tomac
- Team: CDR Yamaha with Star Racing
- Hometown: Cortez, Colorado, USA
- WSX Debut: 2022 WSX British GP
- Best WSX Finish: 1st x3
- 2023 Standing: N/A
Eli Tomac needs no introduction. With eight AMA Motocross and Supercross championship titles and more than 100 wins and 200 podiums, he’s a legend of our sport. After dominating our inaugural GP in Cardiff, Wales, as a Wildcard entry, Tomac will be racing full-time in WSX in 2024, and he’s targeting the World Championship title by throwing the gauntlet down to Ken Roczen.
Ryan Breece
- Team: MotoConcepts Racing
- Hometown: Coer D’Alene, Idaho, USA
- WSX Debut: 2024 WSX Canadian GP
- Best WSX Finish: 10th x1
- 2023 Standing: N/A
Ryan Breece makes a welcome return to WSX after representing Rick Ware Racing in the series’ inaugural season. Now as part of MotoConcepts, he’ll be racing alongside Vince Friese, and the pair should form a formidable lineup. Since his most recent appearance in WSX, Breece has reached the next level in his career and beat Dean Wilson to the 2024 Brazilian Arenacross title while also becoming the 2024 AMA Arenacross vice champion. Expect to see Breece mixing it with the best year, especially on shorter, tighter tracks which he’s notoriously fast on.
Lucas Imbert

- Hometown: Adissan, France
- WSX Debut: 2024 WSX Canadian GP
- Best WSX Finish: N/A
- 2023 Standing: N/A
Lucas Imbert is the only rookie on the 2024 WSX class grid and will line up alongside Greg Aranda after joining Team GSM earlier this year. Like every debutant, Imbert’s goals and expectations are modest, but his hunger is unmistakable – he’s ready to give it everything he’s got. An ADAC Supercross SX2 champion who placed third in the 2021 French National MX2 Championship and 2022 French Supercross SX Tour SX2 series, Imbert represents a new generation of talent.
